1. What are the main advantages of FFS film over pre-made bags?
  • High Efficiency: FFS lines are fully automated, filling up to 2,000+ bags per hour, which is significantly faster than manual or semi-automatic pre-made bag filling.
  • Lower Material Costs: Purchasing film in rolls (reels) is cheaper than buying individual pre-made bags. It also reduces storage space for empty packaging.
  • Superior Sealing: Since the bag is formed and sealed in one continuous process, the hermetic seals are often stronger and more consistent, providing better moisture protection.


2. What materials are typically used in Heavy Duty FFS films?
Most high-performance FFS films use 3-layer or 5-layer co-extrusion technology:

  • Outer Layer: Formulated for high friction (anti-slip) and UV resistance to ensure pallet stability and outdoor durability.
  • Middle Layer: Usually contains MLLDPE (metallocene) for high puncture resistance and tensile strength to prevent bursting.
  • Inner Layer: Designed for "Hot Tack" or rapid sealing, ensuring a strong bond even if the seal area is contaminated by dust or powder.


3. How do you prevent bags from sliding off a pallet?
Because polyethylene (PE) is naturally slippery, FFS films are treated in two ways:

  • Embossing: Mechanical "dimples" or diamond patterns are pressed into the film surface to create physical interlocking between bags.
  • High COF (Coefficient of Friction): Specialized resins or anti-slip additives are used to increase the surface "grip" without making the film sticky.


4. How does air escape during high-speed filling?
To prevent bags from looking like "pillows" (which makes them impossible to stack), FFS films use de-aeration features:

  • Micro-perforation: Tiny needle-punched holes allow air to escape while keeping the product (like plastic pellets) inside.
  • Labyrinth Sealing: A sophisticated seal pattern that allows air to flow out through a "maze" but prevents water or moisture from entering.


5. Can these films withstand outdoor storage?
Yes. Heavy-duty FFS films are typically UV-stabilized. Depending on the additive package, they can withstand direct sunlight for 6 to 24 months without losing mechanical strength or becoming brittle.


6. Are FFS films environmentally friendly?

  • Recyclability: Since most are made from 100% Polyethylene (PE), they are fully recyclable in standard plastic waste streams.
  • PCR Content: Many manufacturers now offer films containing 30% to 50% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material while maintaining high performance.
  • Downgauging: Modern resins allow for thinner films (e.g., 100 microns instead of 150) that provide the same strength, reducing total plastic usage.


7. What are the common thickness standards?
