High Level Palletizer

A High Level Palletizer is an automated stacking system that builds pallet loads from an elevated position, typically with product infeed located 2.5 to 3.6 meters (8 to 12 feet) above the plant floor . Unlike low-level palletizers that stack from the ground up, high-level systems form complete product layers on a staging plate at height, then lower them onto a pallet elevator for precise placement.

Working Process:

  • Following the programmed palletizing pattern, the bags are initially arranged on the row-formation roller conveyer and then when a row is composed, it is shifted to a temporary parking area.
  • When the last row completes the layer, a pusher shifts the entire layer over two sliding trapdoors with that centrally unload the layer, which is then compacted on all four sides.
  • At this point, the doors open and unload the just-formed layer onto the pallet being made, and the frame that holds it is lowered by the thickness of one layer. The cycle begins again until the pallet has been completed, at which point the frame descends to the level of the evacuation roller conveyor.
  • Through this roller conveyor, the pallet is ejected and is sent to the parking roller conveyor.
  • At the same time, a new empty pallet will have reached the mobile frame, which is raised to the height of the trapdoors to receive the first layer that has been prepared and start the new cycle.

FAQ:

1. Why choose High-level Palletizers?

High level infeed conventional palletizers are generally faster and have a comparatively smaller footprint than floor level palletizers. Additionally, more efficient traffic flow can be realized in plants when there are multiple palletizers in one area or the palletizing process is located a significant distance from the packaging area.

2. What factors will influence the choosing of a high-level palletizer?

Most High Level palletizers are used when the space allowed combined with the desired production rate is not suitable for a Floor Level palletizer. If the palletizing process is located a considerable distance from the upstream packaging process, the case conveyor line feeding the palletizer will almost certainly be elevated to transport the product to the palletizer. Once up in the air (between 110" and 145") there is no point in bringing the product back down when High Level palletizers exist and do a great job.

3. Can the high-level palletizer meet special requirements?

Normally all palletizers use standard components that are custom configured to meet the unique needs of every application. There are countless layout configurations available, slip and tier sheet options, touchless case turning infeed, small case handling kits and more.



4. How about the maintenance of the high-level palletizer?

Maintenance requirements are very low but will vary by application to some degree. Operations that are somewhat dusty or that run 3 shifts per day and 7 days a week will require more frequent maintenance. Typical annual maintenance may include conveyor drive belt replacement or perhaps a cylinder seal or a sensor replacement.
